Great Gifts for Guys 2021

Are the men on your list hard to buy for? Do they have everything? Are they picky?  I have so many ideas, I had to stop just to get this out to you. Books and Watches and Ski Boots oh my. Here's a sampling this year, and there will be more great gifts to come, so keep an eye out for future posts.

Let's get started.

UKEG PRO CARBONATED GROWLERS

If you want to be a hero, as you make them the envy of their friend, consider giving the uKeg. To quote their site, "The original uKeg Pro line is the go-to option for craft beverage professionals and home brewers alike—delivering carbonation with total control. Dial in your drink of choice, and keep it cold, fresh and carbonated."

Visit Growlerwerks.com, where you can find the ones Pros use, or the GO, the one you can take to a party, hiking or camping pictured here. Both are in the $90 range. There are also bundles, and stocking stuffers if your person already has one.

TIP: They also have the NITRO for making your own cold brewed coffee, and The Twist where you can make your own seltzers. But I digress. Find them all on the link I gave.

NATURAL EYES

Wooden glasses frames are a trend that aren't seeing an end.  You can get all kinds - the entire frame, or just the arms, as sunglasses, blue light blockers or prescription frames. Check out Woodys, or find round, vintage and aviator styles with colored lenses at TruWood, on sale for $49 (from $100)
At $24 you can find 50/50 4 EST frames on Amazon. Or go right to the 4EST website for fully etched bamboo shades on sale for $30.

QUALITY SMALL BUSINESS GOODS

Bespoke Post, which I have featured before, has really unique items from small, quality makers. come in a monthly membership box, for $45 a month, though the contents value can be closer to $70. The recipient joins for free, fill out a form to help them know interests and preferences in categories, like barware, camping, cooking, clothing, grooming product etc.  They can preview the box online and skip it, trade it or take it.  Box suggestions improve over time based on your choices.

The cool thing is, that during Covid, to help keep small businesses alive AND to turn you on to cool and unique things you'd never have stumbled across, they purchased $137,375,287. So you can also buy individual items you won't find anywhere else, and count on them being high quality too, without the insane mark ups.  Shop Bespoke Post now!

GIVE GOOD FACE

A little pricey but different: No it does not flame, hah but it's got a heated razor head that they claim soothes and heats in 1 second to give a hot towel shave feel. And if you have the budget and live where it's cold, it could be a very welcome gift! Gillette states it includes their best blades (and 5 blade refills), magnetic docking, wireless charging and a Lithium ion battery that provides up to 6 shaves from a single charge, a cleaning cloth and a smart plug.  The Bugatti Limited Edition Shave Kit by GilletteLabs for $169 on Amazon.

NO DUMBELL

This is a great idea for workouts - The Bowflex Select Tech Kettle Bella kettle bell that has 8 settings to easily adjusts it to weigh from 8 to 40 pounds! And it looks sleek when set aside so you house doesn't have to look like a gym.  Found at Walmart for $112.

TIME TO BE SILLY

The Ministry of Silly Walks clock will be a HIT, whether or not someone knows of Monty Pyton's famed skit. If you Google, you'll find dozen ranging from $16-39.  I'd trust the ones from Etsy or Amazon that have actual starred ratings to get to you on time and have good customer service, and avoid the temptation to go for the cheapest or not read reviews. I posted this one on Amazon because it offers them in a black or a white frame for $24.88.

And this one on ETSY is frameless, with the little man in wood and more modern numbers for $39.

EYE OUT FOR EVIL

SO VERY COOL. This is a mini - I mean the size of your car key small - camera that can be discreetly affixed to the rear view mirror or the back windshield (or get two and do both) to monitor what happens to his ride! It may be small but captures 140 degree views.  So if anything happens, you have a video record. The Parking Surveillance mode captures what goes on around it while you're away from the car. The Garmin Dash Cam Mini for $120. Definitely click the link to learn much more about it!

IS THAT A KNIFE IN YOUR POCKET or...

His Dad or Grandpa had a pocket knife that he had with him every day. This is the modern version by James.  I was knocked out by this sleek and simple beauty: The Pike. for $120. It comes in 6 different handle and blade materials with a non-locking hip joint. I thought this Green Micarta with Stainless was subtle but really different.

The knife is 3.5" closed, 5.7" open, with a blade length of 2.3 inches. The rosewood with a stainless blade is $220.  If you're intrigued, definitely check out the James Brand site for a nice variety of choices, with prices ranging from about $89 up to to $395.  You may be able to Google around to see if you can find any discounted.

CHARGE IT!

The Satechi Doc is wireless and will charge up to 5 Devices, including those that use QI. While cables are sold separately. this is a nice size when not in use (or to tuck into a travel bag). Check what it's compatible with against the list on the Amazon page, where this goes for $59.

I'd suggest that this gives you the idea, and that you Google around or just scroll down on the Amazon page I gave you. You can judge for yourself based on reviews, and the recipients specific needs. Maybe they don't need the QI, or wants one that has USB-A ports. So Google around to choose what's best for you.

TIP: The manufacturer said in answer to a Comsumer that "the hub was designed with Apple products in mind, it should be able to charge any device as long as you connect the original charging cable to either the Type-C or Type-A ports.  Keep in mind that the Type-C ports will only output 20W of power while the Type-A ports will output 12W of power, so if your devices need more power in order to charge, they might charge at a slower rate."

FILL 'ER UP

ROTOPAX and FUELPAX are fuel, water and first aid pods that attach to your jeep, motorcycle, and perhaps your trailer or mobile home. Rugged and space efficient, this would be a definite WIN for a gift, and not something anyone would say they can't use.

You can find these units through Rotopax.comPrices vary based on size and what it's being used for. From about $42 on up into the hundreds, the lowest being for 1 gallon of water or fuel.  DEFINITELY worth a look!

YOLO, GET A YETI

If he's all about YETI this will be a gift he uses for life. It's pricey, but the reviews from guys are all five star. After years of buying the $5 buckets at the hardware store that fall apart, this has a really comfortable handle, can haul a lot and is built to last. It's high-impact resistant and, they claim, virtually indestructible! Great for anything from hauling stuff to a fishing bucket, and it's even food safe.
Comes in 4 colors on the Amazon link I found... Tan, Black, White and Turquoise blue. Prices vary based on Vendor -- about $88-100.

HE'LL COMMAND ATTENTION

A sweater - a good way for him to be comfortable like he wants to feel, but look holiday ready! This timeless Commando crew neck is thick enough to say quality, and the patches on the shoulders really do flatter any build. A little something extra for a soli color. It's warm wool like those worn in WWII by the British Commandos. My dad wore his all his life.
It comes in 5 colors - black, navy, pearl grey, olive green and laden heather which I'm posting here so you can see the detail.  For $69 at LL Bean who may have another sale. In the mean time, you can get 10% off if you sign up for their email! Really love the henley version of this in Navy, which goes for $79 HERE.
