Great Gifts for Babies and Toddlers 2021

The holidays are warmed by having little ones around. And they do love the holidays. If what they receive are good quality and educational, comforting or fun, all the better!

Since the news warns of possible supply chain interruptions, saying things like toys should be ordered early, I'm putting great gifts for kids out early. Today I'm covering toddlers.

For Newborns on up:

The Hatch Baby rest, sound, and light machine combines a night light, a sound machine to aid sleep, and a time to rise alert all in one. But it also provides soft light for late night nursing sessions and diaper changes.

From your phone you customize color, brightness, sound, and volume level. Set programs to turn off and on automatically based on your family’s sleep schedule. It  can be used well into toddlerhood to let littles know when they should get out of bed. One mom told me her kids used it to cast light onto their ceiling until they were teens! That’s a useful gift!

On sale from $100 to $59 at Bed Bath and Beyond. TIP: If you have their 20% off subscription or the coupons they’ve been mailing out… even better!

For 6 Months to 3 years:

Infanto Sensory Balls, Blocks and Buddies is a colorful 20 piece basic set for sensory exploration! It develops both fine and gross motor skill development and is an  introduction to colors, numbers and sorting skills. But it also teaches object recognition, sorting, stacking, and descriptive language. That's a lot of variety for the money!

The balls, numbered blocks and play animals come in 8 colors made with BPA free materials. On sale for $19 on Amazon.

For 6-18 Months:

The Nuby 3 Step Soothing Teether Set is made of BPA-free silicone in really nice colors. It’s called 3-step because one is shaped for helping sore gums from front teeth, another for front and middle, and the third for all teeth. The packaging tells you which is which (Take a quick pic on your phone before you throw the packing out in case you need to refer to it.  And, they fit in little hands

Only $5.97 on Amazon and Target.

For 1 Year Olds:

The VTech Chomp and Count Dino is cute as can be! Press the button on Dino’s head, and he says “Feed me.” His mouth opens and depending on the color of the disc a child pop in his mouth (which goes to his belly) he’ll say the flavor (ie a blue disc = “Blueberries are sweet!”).

There are shapes to push, and Dino will say what it is. There are numbers to count (1-5) and music to go with it (130 melodies, sounds and phrases). So it teaches, colors, shapes, flavors, pressing and counting!

Lowest price today is $14.25 on Amazon

The Baby Stella Learn to Dress doll is a soft huggable baby just right for little arms. There is a version of the baby with 3 different options for coloring  which you can find HERE, but I chose this one because it also helps being teaching a little one how to dress with shoe ties, belt buckles, velcro pockets and more.  $39 on FatBrainToys.

For 1-2 Year Olds:

Grimm’s Nesting Rainbow Blocks are made from quality materials, with bright, stimulating, certified non-toxic colors. They have an interesting texture and are a way to a way to learn stacking or at least about gravity as they watch you put it together then enjoy breaking it apart! For use on its own or with other toys, becoming a tunnel or a hill or bridge. Doubles as a cheery decoration in their playroom or bedroom.

There are two rainbows, this smaller one (L: 6.5 in x H: 3.25 in x W: 2.5 in when nested) and a larger one – and are part of the f4 elements series. $35 at The Wooden Wagon.

You may prefer the other 3 stacking sets pictured below for more unusual shape. You can find all on the link I gave you; just scroll down a little and  you'll see them!

Crayola’s Palm Grasp crayons are baby’s first ones - so much easier for little hands to hold! And wait till they experience what this little ball like thing does – it makes color!  Non-toxic and yes, they are washable! Woo-hoo. The best price for the 6 color pack I found was at Walmart for $11.

Or, get a 3 color pack for $7.99 at Buy Baby Buy. And while you're on Buy Baby Buy, check out the toddler washable Finger-Paint Set, also by Crayola for $19.99.

Farm and Jungle's Elephant Book will provide hours and hours of stimulation and interest. In addition to a colorful fabric pages to learn from and turn and fluffy faux fur ears and trunk to grab. Plus this comes with an attached teether, rattle and --parents will like this - a ring to hang it from your stroller handle making it easy for you to grab and detach to give to your little one even while walking. $17.95 today on AMAZON

For 2 to 5 Year Olds:

Parents have been trusting this Little Tikes Cozy Coupe for 50 years, and kids still love it. There's a removable floorboard to make it easy to transition between parents pushing their child in it like a stroller, and the kid pushing themselves along with their feet.

There's lots to stimulate interest. A trunk that stores things, a horn, the steering wheel, a key and a sippy cup holder, and durable enough to work inside and out. Both front wheels spin an impressive 360 degrees for ease and control. A great ride-on toy for active toddlers. Maximum weight limit: up to 50 lbs. $50 at Target!

I also liked this 2 in 1 Radio Flier, another well known name. In its signature red, with the flip of one part, this is both a scooter and a ride on. So it too can be adapted to age and ability. $52 at Walmart And store pages are filled with different takes on these. I picked two with great reputations, but these can serve to simply spark ideas.

VTECH’S ABC LEARNING APPLE comes with 26 colorful keys that light up.Eight learning activities introduce preschoolers to letters, phonics, spelling, words, memory skills and time concept, and better, even play modes provide leveled learning to keep kids challenged.

A quiz mode reinforces what they've learned, saying the letter names and sounds and an object starting with that letter.  You can switch modes to hear 26 melodies and sound effects! And there's a little clock to teach time. $19 at AMAZON or WALMART.

And of course encourages a love of books and reading at a very early age. Pick from 4 general reading categories and their staff will hand pick books to fill your box.

There are additional items that match the theme of each box to enhance the fun and learning each month!  Single or multi-month options are available, and the contents exceed the paid price. You can get a curated box or share some of the specifics about the child so picks can be honed by age, gender, interests and reading ability. Looks like they can include some special extras in with books as well.

You can get a years subscription, or one for 3 or 6 months. You save a little with each but not enough to make that a deciding factor. You can also give just one month for $20. Sound interesting? Why not click around their website to see what's right for the kid on your list?
