Artful Calendars to Give this Holiday

Calendars are a useful gift this time of year - and there are many out there. Here's two that are special:

Dana Heacock Calendars

While visiting friends in Little Diamond Island in Maine, their walls were covered by striking 14 X 11 images with a calendar underneath, uniformly framed across one long wall in the living room area. They were nostalgic and modern at the same time, each so colorful that I drooled. There was such a variety of iconic images of the seasons and seacoast.

Enroute home, I stopped in a store called Abacus in Ogunquit and lo and behold, they had the artist's calendar (and it's his store!). I bought not only 2020, but whatever past years they still had, so I can pick and choose the images I want to frame and hang in my own cottage-- and there are just too many to be in love with --so I can easily switch them out as seasons change!

I have to recommend them so you can do the same. Or give as a gift!  While you can also buy the images as single pieces of art, the calendar comes in a variety of sizes -- and you end up with lasting art once you're done.

They are available at Abacus in Ogunquit Me, and range from $5.95 to $29.95

Adelle Circa 1920 Calendars

Cindy Richard paints vintage watercolors. She also makes entirely unique, colorful art - portraits, illustrated journals and calendars. 2020 is literary-themed, a favorite of mine. Anyone who loves books and reading will be happy to gaze for 30 days at each of these dozen portraits of people absorbed in a book, in one interesting setting after another! I had at least 3 book lovers on my list, so I bought  a stack of them to give this year -- and may need a second round.

They're on high quality cream stock, 8.5 x 11 for $25.

Check it out on Cindy's EtsyShop, adellecirca1920, where you can click through the different paintings each month, as well as her portraits and prints.
