Man vs. Twinkle Lights is a legendary battle. One where the lights always win... until now. THIS is SUCH a good Christmas light fix, it warrants it's own post!
Perhaps you know someone who's the soul of patience (and really, WHO HAS that kind of patience or time??) who would inspect each little light, pulling them out without ruining their tiny trio of prongs, searching row after row to find the culprit bum bulb that has rendered the entire, perfectly good thread useless...
I don't and I am not. And I bet you aren't either.
The Light Keeper Pro is a Christmas light tester that works! You can use it in a few different ways to locate which bulb is the problem. One is to stick the nose into the light socket in question. If you need help seeing it, there's a built-in LED light on the nose to illuminate those already on a tree (GENIUS!) Then poke the nose of this thing into the socket itself to see if things are working or not.
The second way is with the internal voltage detector. Just run the wand systematically over the strands and when it hits a bulb well that is on the fritz, it makes a little squeak.
Not only does it test fuses and bulbs, the handle has a little compartment to hold spare ones so they're on hand for on-the-spot repairs. A tool fit for James Bond!
There's a video that shows you exactly how this works. Once you see it, you'll ordering, if you aren't already. It's so simple but so effective I was really impressed!
AND this works on pre-lit Christmas trees too. Last year the top third of my pre-lit tree went out... so I strung a set of free standing lights around that... and a few days later, I noticed the middle was now dark. These trees aren't cheap and you buy them pre-lit to NOT have to tangle with adding lights!
I am ordering the Light Keeper Pro as soon as I finish this post! At Home Depot for $23
