Each year I feature something for the music lover... being one myself... And this year was a blast to research! Somebody stop me.
I have to lead with these incredibly beautiful works of art that are actual speakers. Called Legacy Hornlettes by Specimen Audio, the below are the least expensive ( they still cost a pretty penny), but they were too unusual not to showcase. My posts aim to cover every budget....and these are $2200-2600.

This can evoke the sensation of the instrument being in the room with the listener.'

This could be a primo stocking stuffer: The Snark digital tuner. There are a few models, so choose based on the needs of the person on your list. These clip onto the instrument and depending on the model you can use a mic or vibration sensor to get an accurate tuning. A high def display makes it easy to work with. $14

You've seen these by now: Beats by Dr. Dre. They are bluetooth and fit differently than the typical wireless (secured over the ear) with 9 hours of listening time. And they're sweat resistant, so great for working out or life in warmer climes. They start at $249 and can be found everywhere, but here they are
at Best Buy, with some colors on sale at publication for at $159!
This is a great book, that looks like it's not currently in print. BUT you can find on Amazon on occasion, or buy in good used condition Thrift Books or AbeBooks.com, TheStrand in NYC, Ebay and the like. The Kindle or Nook edition is of course available if that't their preference. Some have paperbacks for as little as $4.95.
