A thought provoking quote from Oprah's quote of the day: (yes, I get that)

There are two ways of meeting difficulties; you alter the difficulties, or you alter yourself to meet them.
—Phyllis Bottom

Very curious as to what this brings up for you...

This is what comes to mind for me:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

The Wisdom to Know the Difference...that line, Donna is one I think of often.

Sydney, I think both are important, integral to a productive life. Donna hit on it, knowing when to bow to circumstances and when to shoulder through is the key.

I could say I would do both... I would alter the difficulties to a reasonable state and then alter myself to deal with the challenge it presents.

But then Nah... I'd turn it over to God and let Him deal with it! Yes, that's better.

my wv is lazinati...guess that's what I am.

The Serenity Prayer that Donna quoted is what came to mind for me, too. I do struggle with that "wisdom to know the difference" part, but I try.
Mmmhmm, it has to do with accepting that life is not perect - not ever. What can I change to make my imperfect life more tolerable? How can I change to come to an acceptance and receiver of life such as it is? Because fighting the reality of what life can be is very very exhausting.
