How about trying this this year? 8 Kouign Amann's for $29.96. Tres magnifique!
Speaking of France, over there they serve divine mustard vinaigarette on their salads. I search for it bottled every time I am there - and have tried to make this "simple" thing on my own - to no avail. Then I found this: bottled in MA, it's light and DELICIOUS! I order it in 4's and 5's as I bring it to people's houses for potlucks and they rave. Makes a great marinade, fantastic instead of or with mayo for chicken salad or coleslaw. French Apple Cider Dressing is $5.95 for 10 fl. oz. from Provence Kitchen. They have many other products - champagne or red wine dressing, mustards, honey - so peruse ProvenceKitchen.net and experiment with confidence!
Before fruit rolls hit the US shelves in all their forms, my family ate this from the local Syrian/Lebanese market. And you can still find them today. It is pure pressed apricots, thick and chewy. You have to figure out how to cut it into bite sizes but that is part of the experience. Might be best to call before you go to your local Lebanese ethnic market - if you don't have one, call aLebanese restaurant and ask the owner if they know how you can order it. Lebanese people go out of their way to help. 14 ox should cost you about $5. I found it on Amazon for $14.45 for a three pack.
We just at it as is, but there are ways to cook with it. In fact, you might want to print some of these recipes from Yummly.com that use it, put them all in a box and make a really nice gift of it all!
"Your candy dish will be the envy of the neighborhood" so says the website that carries these. And I'm here to back that up. Fruits in Chocolate makes melt in your mouth chocolate covered fruits - cherries, coconut, prunes, apricots, cranberries, etc - and the best thing is, they are individually wrapped! And now they are offering some that use 70% cocoa dark chocolate. I've not tasted those but have some on order.

I grab a few when heading out to the movies, on hikes, or just to have in my purse for when I need a pick me up, don't want to eat dessert, or if I'm stuck in dead still traffic (they do the trick). I always offer one to whomever I'm with and without fail their eyes widen and they ask "What are these!?!?" You can buy a variety of sizes and packaging i.e.: $4.99 for a 6 oz pkg (approx 12 candies), 1$1.99 for 16 oz. so just check out their site as hyperlinked above. I'm ordering mine now!
