Now that so many of us find ourselves spending much more time at home, it seems everyone has begun to bake bread. These great gifts are for that person, or the ones who aspire to give it a whirl.
It's that time of year where something baking makes the house smell soooo good. And the cozy months post -holiday of Jan-March will be a perfect time for them to make use of what you got for them!
Here's some great gift ideas!
Look at this gorgeous fig-colored bread pan! Offered by King Arthur (as in the flour) it's part of their baking shop -- did you know they had one? They offer all kinds of marvelous things, so visit their site and click around.
But back to this divine Emile Henry (France) covered baking pan whose claim is that it "helps you make artisan bread with crisp golden crusts and chewy, airy interiors." The description alone makes me want to get it Sells for $135. Check out ALL their baking pans - quite a selection and guaranteed to be high quality.
There's a particularly pretty red one for a round loaf, an uncommon shape designed to heat evenly on all sides. Made of the highest quality French stoneware, you can even preheat it in the oven before hand. It's also great for making potatoes and veggies.... $135 (you might find this on sale if you google, or wait for Black Friday or deals as they get nearer to the holiday).
Baba a Louis is an obscure bakery nestled in Chester, Vermont State. It's now closed but BOY was it a treat to go in and get fresh baked delights. What remains is their bread book and I think it's one of the best out there. It's hard to find new these days, but you will locate it if you Google, for varying prices. This one is for about $10 from AbeBooks.com and they have a dozen copies. You can also find it at Thrift books, Ebay, Amazon etc. for as much as $25. Many may be used, but consider it as passing on a treasure to a treasured friend this holiday!
I'm a HUGE fan of these classic all-purpose kitchen pans that are made like they used to be - solid, lasting, quality. Aptly named USAPans it reflects where they are made as well. As of this publication, their website says they are having a bit go a supply situation right now -- please check their website first, as they can be up and running any moment.. but you can Google around to find some of the pans already in stock at Target, Sur le Table., Amazon, even Walmart.
Once the bread is made, it can be stored at home in paper or given to neighbors or mailed as gifts all year long. What might just delight the proud baker on your list is having a personalized stamp to add to their packaging. From LADD Stamps on Etsy for $25-35, depending on the size you order.
Or, check out this one from GetStampedUK on Esty which would come from the UK, but you can order a wide variety of sizes, starting at $33.
TIP: Why not around out the stamps by pairing them with paper bags? You can google and find a variety - paper ones big enough for several kinds of bread, lunch type bags with clear windows and fold over tops for cookies, brownies, bars and scones, sleeves for baguettes, and cotton/linen drawstring bags that have a drawstring top.
